Piña Colada and Pain Killer Cocktails

What does it take to make a delicious piña colada? The piña colada might be one of the world’s most known cocktails. It is fruity, smooth, and refreshing especially on those hot summer days. Did you know that there is another variation of this cocktail called the Painkiller? The painkiller is actually a more carribean version of the piña colada. The ingredients are almost similar. However, the painkiller contains a few more additions to it.

Our version of these cocktails are a bit altered from others. However, we still maintain the true authentic taste of the cocktails. We altered the ingredients to maintain a lower sugar and calorie intake. We do not need those unnecessary ingredients in sweetened products. While you can make it at home, you can take full control of what ingredients you put in your cocktail.

Piña Colada

Pino Colada cocktail

  • Pineapple Juice (1 oz)
  • Coconut milk(1 oz)
  • Rum (1 ½ oz)

Take out your cocktail shaker. Pour your ingredients in. Add some ice and shake your cocktail. Fill your glass with ice and strain your cocktail into your glass. For garnish, add a cherry on top. Enjoy!

This version of the Piña Colada is so refreshing. The blend of the coconut milk with the rum and pineapple juice is so smooth to drink. However, the way we make it is not as sweet as it would taste when ordering at a bar. We used unsweetened coconut milk and let the pineapple juice be the base of the sweetener. Of course, if you prefer your drink on the sweeter side, you can get sweetened coconut milk or add some simple syrup. That is the beauty of crafting your own beverage. You will be able to alter the ingredients to your liking.

Painkiller

Pain killer cocktail

  • pineapple juice (4 oz)
  • dark rum (Pussers Rum) (2 oz)
  • orange juice (1 oz)
  • coconut milk (1 oz)
  • Grated Nutmeg

We will use a cocktail shaker for this beverage as well. Pour the pineapple juice , orange juice, coconut milk, and rum into your shaker. Shake well with ice. Then strain your cocktail into your glass filled with ice. Garnish with some grated nutmeg and a cherry on top.

This beverage as you can see is similar to the Piña a Colada but with some additions to it. The additions added to this drink really brings out the carribean flavors. Notably, the coconut milk really ties in this beverage and gives it a smooth taste. Just like the Piña Colada, if you prefer a sweeter beverage you can substitute to a sweetened coconut milk.
